ENERGY CONSERVATION SOLUTIONS ECM TECHNOLOGY
  • ECM technology will become the next revolution in the air movement industry.
  • HVAC systems use electric motors, which account for a large portion of the total HVAC energy consumption.
  • An electronically commutated (EC) Motor is designed to run on alternating current (AC) power supply.
  • It bears a closer resemblance to a direct current (DC) motor.
  • It is essentially a permanent magnet, brushless DC motor that incorporates on-board electronics.
  • He added electronics allow an EC motor to combine the best features from both AC & DC motors.
  • EC fans are highly efficient with faster payback through lower operating costs and extended service life.
  • Replaces all fixed speed drives, belt-pulley AC induction motors in an Air Handling Unit assembly.

High efficiency also leads to a range of secondary and tertiary benefits, outlined in the diagram below:

SALIENT FEATURES
  • Direct shaft driven blowers instead of belt-pulley driven blowers
  • Light weight non-metal Backward curved blower fans instead of heavy metal blower fans
  • Automated speed control- no need of VFDs
  • Failure rate < 1% over a 10-year term
  • Lowered maintenance costs and therefore lower cost of ownership
  • Reduction in energy consumption (30-35%) on AHU side
  • Payback of 1-3 years (12-36 Months)- depending on the operating hours and rate of electricity units
